Valley Home Checks two tier check services

Full-service checks

  • Home prep after departure and before arrival
  • Ensure house looks lived in. Clear newspapers, adjust blinds, shovel snow*
  • Ensure water is turned off. Regular flushing if requested
  • Crawl space inspections
  • Collect mail, forwarding if requested. Parcel pick-up. Mail Authorization form will be supplied.
  • Ensuring windows and doors are secure
  • Check for leaks, water entering home, condensation
  • Watering indoor/outdoor plants*
  • Ensure appliances are working refrigerators/freezers
  • Shut off electrical breakers or gas to hot water tank and turning back on prior to arrival.
  • Ensuring house heating devices are working, regular temperature checks
  • Checking for weather damage or gutter blockages on home exterior
  • Check if yard is in need of maintenance. Will arrange to have contractor come to home
  • Check for water pooling near home
  • Checking vehicles left on site. VHC encourages vehicle owners to use trickle chargers.
  • Setting up lights and timers if requested
  • Set-up traps if signs of rodent activity are evident
  • Provide a customized report via email after each check.

Insurance checks

  • Collecting mail, keep at house
  • Ensure windows and doors are secure
  • Checking for weather damage or gutter blockages on home exterior.
  • Check if yard is in need of maintenance.
  • Arrange for contractor to come to home*
  • Checking vehicles left on site. VHC encourages vehicle owners to use trickle chargers
  • Setting up lights and timers if requested*
  • Watering of indoor/outdoor plants*
  • Summary report kept in home, email details

If your home is unoccupied, Valley Home Check will provide the services you require to ensure your home is safe, secure and maintains its insurance policy. Homes may be unoccupied for the following reasons:

  • Holidays, short or long term
